Research indicates that, of late, emerging and developing markets contribute to the tune of 60% of the global gross domestic product and they are emerging as the main driver of global economic growth. It is further predicted that over three-fourth of the global economic growth in the next twenty years will be accounted for by these markets. A little over twenty three economies have been identified as ‘emerging markets’ by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Apart from the BRICS economies, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey and Ukrain are considered emerging markets. These markets, it is stated, have the potential to become full-fledged developed markets in the near future.
Although a few of these economies have faced temporary imbalances and economic issues, the fundamentals seem to be very strong. This means that these economies could witness tremendous growth offering plenty of opportunities to the population and the region.
The ultimate goal of every nation is to offer a higher standard of living to the citizens. It is, indeed, a good news to note that these emerging markets have been witnessing significant growth in terms of major economic indicators thus resulting in expanding middle-class, improvement in standard of living and greater integration into the global economy.
a) Examine the impact of growth of the emerging markets on the local, regional and global markets and economy;
b) Identify and analyze the major economic issues and hurdles being faced by these economies so that corrective measures could be initiated in order to accelerate the economic growth;
c) Provide an ideal platform for researchers, economists, bankers and practitioners to share their research and practical experiences in all the major issues highlighted above in both the emerging and global economies; and
d) Offer suitable solutions to ensure an orderly growth of the global economy and bring prosperity and sustainable economic development to the World, in the long-run.
