According to Forrester Research, a leading research agency, only 12% of the data available are being utilized for various purposes including marketing-related decision-making. The remaining 88% is not effectively used, it is reported. If properly used, retailers could certainly increase their operating margins by, at least, 60%. Adding on to this interesting statistics is the fact that by the year 2020, 1.7 megabytes of new information will be created every second for every human being living on the earth. Such huge volume of data also throws both challenges and opportunities which the marketers should make use of in a judicious manner in order to achieve significant milestones and ensure success.
