The mother earth is facing various issues that warrant urgent action from the global community. Poverty, climate change & global warming, environmental issues, Third-World debt, ageing population & its impact on the economy, global financial instability, higher levels of sovereign debts, mounting non-performing assets (NPAs) of the banking & financial institutions, rising unemployment among the masses including jobless growth, deepening income inequality, immigrant issues being confronted by select European economies, growing imbalances in the world economy and the regional economic challenges faced by different continents are a few issues worth mentioning, here.
Long-standing global economic challenges and issues cannot be addressed by a single nation or a group of selected nations. Identifying the root-causes of these issues and addressing them in a tactful manner warrant a visionary global leadership. A coordinated-effort of the global community is the need of the hour in order to bring the global economy on the path to progress and economic development. Apart from a strong leadership, we need massive investments that would generate employment opportunities to the masses; In other words, employment-oriented fiscal stimulus is quite imminent to tackle and solve these issues. Governments and corporate establishments should sit across the table to focus on sustainable investment and business practices in order to create a ‘win-win’ situation for all. In a nutshell, global issues, undoubtedly, warrant a strong global response. Against this backdrop, the upcoming conference in the beautiful country of Mauritius makes an attempt to achieve the following objectives;
a) Analyze and thoroughly examine the major economic issues being faced by the World, today;
b) Systematically ascertain the root-causes of the global issues and identify the ways and means to solve them for the better of humanity;
c) Provide an ideal platform for researchers, economists, bankers and practitioners to share their research and practical experiences in all the major issues highlighted, as above; and
d) Offer suitable solutions to ensure an orderly growth of the global economy and bring prosperity and sustainable economic development to the World, in the long-run.
